We are hiring a full-time entry level Financial Analyst I - Engineering to work out of our corporate office in north central Phoenix.

This position will support the 2 Engineering Departments with back-end finance related tasks and analysis. You will work closely with various departments within the company such as Operations, Accounting and Finance and our Developer partners. In this newly created position you will have the opportunity to learn the private utility business quickly as well as the goals of the organization. This position will involve working with multiple team members of various backgrounds to enhance processes and streamline tasks. An interest and appreciation of the construction industry would be a good foundation for success in this role.

 

What you’d be responsible for:

 

  • Work closely with Project Managers on developer projects and assist them with various phases.
  • Maintain the CWIP (Construction Work in Progress) account for accuracy and work with various stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting of a wide variety of capital projects.
  • Run lead on the annual developer refund payment process.
  • Act as finance representation for Engineering to the rest of the company.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures align with Regulatory rules on financial statements.
  • Provide objective analytical support to help influence and reinforce business decisions.
  • Interface with corporate FP&A on key initiatives to support the growth of the business.
  • Ad hoc projects.

 

What’s required to be successful:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Construction Management or similar technical discipline
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems
  • Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible and operate in an ambiguous, structured but changing environment
  • Self-starter
  • Desire to gain a credential such as CMA or PMP would be a plus
